Executive Masters Programme for the Oil and Gas Leadership

Managers in the oil and gas industry now have the opportunity to equip themselves with the skills and knowledge for a senior management role with the introduction of a unique executive masters leadership programme by the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP).

The Executive Masters in Oil and Gas Leadership programme is the first of its kind for senior practising managers in the petroleum industry. It is focused on developing strategic management, organisational development and leadership skills, concentrating on key challenges and issues facing the commercial, community, governmental and political stakeholders.

This intellectually challenging academic programme, which takes a minimum of two years to complete, prepares participants for senior leadership or advisory roles relating to energy and natural resources in the private and public sector. The faculty includes World Bank’s Senior Legal Counsel for Energy, Mark Moseley; former UN Inter-regional Adviser on Petroleum and Mineral Legislation, Professor Thomas Wälde; and economist Professor Paul Stevens.

Dr Ian Robson, Director of Executive Programmes, says, “This programme addresses the skill deficit challenges that the sector is currently facing at senior management levels. It is an exciting professional development opportunity to learn from a world-class faculty and to network with tomorrow’s captains of the energy and natural resources sectors.”

The first learning event for the Executive Masters in Oil and Gas Leadership – Creating New Energy Infrastructure in Developing Countries: Policy Issues and Legal Consideration – is led by Mark Moseley and takes place in Edinburgh from 21 to 25 September, followed by the second session in Dubai from 23 – 27 November 2008. Participants may also choose to attend this as an individual course.

Applications are now being accepted for this Executive Masters programme. For more information or to apply, please see www.cepmlp.org/executive or email Dr Ian Robson at execpro@dundee.ac.uk.
