This course focuses on petroleum regulation, in particular applicable international standard including ISO standards, Good Oilofield Practice and developments in the industry. Participants will develop a through understanding (from the perspective of industry, governments and non-governmental organisations on a local and international basis) of regulatory concepts and their implementation as well as monitoring and regulatory processes, issues and implications.
New topics include developments in decommissioning offshore petroleum facilities; the Declaration of Rights of Indigenious People and its impact; regulatory groups and regulatory overlaps - lessons from the banking crisis; and effective internal management structure as a key to self regulation.
