Their high performing Exploration and Production business remains at the core of their activities and an opportunity has now arisen for a Geophysicist to join this area of the company. This dynamic organisation operates worldwide, with locations varying from Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, this employer is proud of their team of professionals around the globe.

The appointee will form a key part of the UK based existing Geophysics team, providing support to the group’s clients worldwide. This team supports seismic and non-seismic geophysical operations, AVO and inversion studies, rock physics modelling, pore pressure prediction, geostatistics and manages a significant R&D budget to fund both internal and external projects. Short periods of travel in the UK and overseas will form part of this post.

As a senior team member, you will be responsible for undertaking quantitative reservoir studies and internal development of technology and working practices. You should be able to apply your practical understanding of the role of quantitative studies to exploration and development scenarios. This role will see you liaising with members of the group from around the globe. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated and confident in delivering quality projects on time.

For this role, the company seeks a senior geophysicist educated to MSc or PhD level with knowledge of current techniques and best practices in quantitative reservoir studies. In addition, applicants should have had previous involvement as technical lead or experience working largely unsupervised on several projects. Other requirements include:
- A thorough knowledge of effective medium models and empirical rock physics relationships gained through rock physics analysis of multiple wells to determine the relationship between reservoir properties and elastic attributes.
- Acoustic impedance inversion of 3D datasets and quantitative analysis of the results.
- AVO analysis for fluid classification in an exploration or development scenario.
- Elastic inversion of pre/sub-stack data for enhanced lithology and fluid prediction, and calibration with rock physics analysis.

Some knowledge of pore pressure prediction and depth conversion would be an advantage, as would exposure to potential field methods.
