The Renewables Team is a small and dedicated team of experts working together to maximise opportunities in a new and exciting industry. Key to establishing my client as a leader and gaining the required competitive advantage is the ability for all team members to work together facilitating each other's discipline. The role involves significant travel, predominantly in the UK and the rest of Europe. The O&M Manager position is a new role within this fast growing, vital part of my clients operations.
The role is designed to bring O&M experience to projects at the early design and construction phase, so maximising opportunities and developing their place as an industry leader in offshore wind.
The role holder will have complete responsibility for all aspects of operational wind farms, whilst providing support to other Renewables functional areas through the pre-operations stages, including design, construction and commissioning, assisting in the negotiation of Wind Turbine Supply Contracts, the management of the negotiations of Service Agreements and the management of the out-turned contracts. The appointee will manage a small team of engineers and technicians and will have responsibility for the profitability of all operating assets. Current expenditure of £8m p.a. and income of £50m p.a. Budget responsibility will treble over the next 5 years.
Your duties will include:
- Developing a strategy and structure for the long term management of efficient and commercially effective operating wind farms.
- Managing reporting and database tools to protect the future commercial and technical performance of projects.
- Keeping up to date with design developments, statutory regulations, codes of practice and onshore and offshore industry standards in relation to Commissioning and O&M.
- Promoting a positive HSE environment and monitoring performance against KPI's including close liaison with the HSE Manager and external advisors.
- Contributing to the development, contracting and construction of future wind farms in JVs or independently by taking an active role in pre-operations stages and ensuring continuous improvement. Negotiating all O&M contracts for current and future projects and supporting negotiation of wind turbine and associated supply contracts.
In addition you will be expected to meet agreed KPI's in relation to HSE, technical performance (including availability), commercial performance and public relations and prove yourself to be key member of the Centrica Renewables Management Team proactively working and contributing across team disciplines.
You will be a qualified engineer with previous O&M experience gained in either a wind or offshore engineering/construction environment. You will also need good communication skills in order to establish relationships with a number of internal stakeholders which include: Operations (trading), Optimisation, Public Affairs, Commercial, Accounts and Payments and IS.
Externally the job holder maintains relationships with: suppliers, community trust, BWEA (trade association), BERR, MCA, Natural England, landowners and tenants, JV companies (to board level).
