A Mechanical Engineer is required to join a company with long-established working relationships with many of the leading offshore companies and a reputation for designing and implementing solutions which work.
This design concept work has kept the company at the forefront of technology in addition to their ship conversion and drilling rig upgrade work for major subsea construction companies for whom they have undertaken a wide range of projects. These include the design and supply of mud gas separators; design of cargo recovery systems, pipe lay systems and pipe handling systems; BOP upgrades, and Xmas tree handlers.
Job Description
The jobholder will be required to undertake project work including engineering, design and analysis in support of the company’s engineering and equipment supply contracts. The job may require work at client’s or subcontractor’s premises and to undertake occasional trips to offshore vessels or installations and shipyards. The incumbent will also be required to create and engineer solutions to problems using mechanical engineering knowledge of mechanical and electrical machinery, hydraulic design and control systems and structural analysis. The structural analysis will include hand calculations, beam modelling and may extend to FEM analysis. Other responsibilities will include
• Producing, checking and approving design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, drawings, design specifications, material take-offs, calculations, etc.
• Designing and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work
Education and Experience
Applicants must have working knowledge of mechanical analysis and design software as well as experience working in the offshore oil and gas industry participating in teams of structural engineers and designers. They must be able to interpret engineering drawings and think and conceptualise in three dimensions. Hydraulic design experience is essential as is installation and commissioning experience. Applicants must also hold a degree (or equivalent) in structural engineering and have chartered status. An Offshore Survival Certificate is desirable.
Salary and Rewards
