A global exploration and production organisation that employs over 500 staff worldwide is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Team. The company focuses on finding reserves of oil and gas, developing the means to extract and process it and then consistently producing it and transporting it to market. This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to be exposed to a dynamic environment in which they can grow and develop using the latest technology on the largest projects and most complex engineering challenges in the world.

Job Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in all aspects of engineering and procurement associated with mechanical equipment from concept selection through to detail design. They will be responsible for reviewing technical work done by the contractors and providing technical guidance and assurance for major projects.


Other responsibilities will include:
• Review and advise on mechanical engineering deliverables from the Engineering Contractor
• Work with the Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, installation and commissioning of static and rotating equipment to provide technical integrity assurance and direction.
• Interface with the existing Operations Team to capture lessons learnt and ensure operability, maintainability and reliability of mechanical equipment
• Integrate the mechanical engineering activity with other project disciplines and delivery areas
• Provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances and concession requests are properly resolved. Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards
• Provide leadership in addressing mechanical design issues with considerations of cost, schedule and quality
• Determine risks to delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place
• Ensure quality and advise on any training requirments

The Mechanical Engineer will also be required to mentor developing engineers and represent the company in external organisations and committees.

Education and Experience
Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the UK on a full time basis for anyone other than their current employer. They must hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant qualification and have specialist experience in a frontline mechanical engineering role within the oil and gas industry. Candidates that have Chartered Engineer status will be highly favoured.
