An Electrical or Instrumentation Control Engineer is required to join an independent oil and gas exploration, development and production company based in Calgary, Alberta. Their operations are focused in Western Canada, the North Sea and Offshore West Africa.

By adhering to this strategy, the company has built a strong asset base capable of balanced production of natural gas, heavy oil and light oil.

Job Description
Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Manager, the Electrical or Instrumentation Control Engineer will maintain communication with the process engineers assigned to the project and the discipline engineers for specific business activities. They will participate actively with the contractors in the development of all engineering deliverables related to the area of specialty on time and on budget, ensuring that all applicable standards and regulations are met.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring the contractors perform all obligations diligently under the contract
• Notifying the Project Manager of any instructions given to the contractors that may affect scope, work, schedule, costs, etc
• Ensuring that input to the contractors is adequate and timely and in accordance to the roles and responsibilities defined in the approved RACI charts
• Participating in the bid package preparation and in the review of the various bids for EPC phase of the project
• Maintaining the technical link between the discipline engineers to ensure consistency

Education and Experience
Applicants must have a degree in Electrical Engineering and registration as a professional engineer in Alberta or eligibility for registration. They must have extensive experience in an instrumentation engineering and/or supervisory role in a maintenance or operations environment working in oil sands facilities.
