Summary: Preparation of drilling programs and activity with responsibility for cost control and well planning. Continuously improve programs, processes and relationships.
• Well Planning – Research offset well information and prepare pore pressure plots etc. to arrive at mud weight requirements. Design casing, cement, bit, hydraulics, and mud programs. Coordinate with Operations Engineers and Geologists
• Prepare AFE/Cost Estimates – Research costs of previous wells drilled in the area, if applicable. Coordinate with Geologists and Materials Coordinator
• Prepare and evaluate drilling bids/contracts – Drilling bids containing Swift’s terms and conditions are prepared and sent to contractors. Bids received back are evaluated for contract changes, equipment, pricing, etc.
• Supervise Contract Drilling Foreman – Evaluate resumes, checks references. Talk with each foreman at least twice daily
• Control Drilling Costs – Bid out items such as location work, cementing, mud, casing crews, rental equipment, and coring and testing services. Approve and code all drilling invoices comparing same to bids, if appropriate
• Coordinate Drilling Activity with Land and Geological Departments – Accommodate geological requests as much as possible regarding rig scheduling etc. Coordinate staking of locations etc.
• Prepare Drilling Programs – include instructions unique to certain areas for Drilling Foreman. Includes work done during well planning
• Inform supervisors of problems/solutions
• Supervise Drilling Operations – Solve well problems with input from Drilling Foreman. Ensure drilling programs are followed
• Logistics – Specify controllable materials (casing, etc.) and coordinate delivery times with materials coordinator.
Qualifications
Bachelors in Engineering, 7+ years experience
Compensation commensurate with experience.
