SCOPE OF ROLE:
The candidate will be expected to lead the analytics of the carbon markets with a particular emphasis on the alternative Kyoto carbon instruments of CDMs, JIs and emerging voluntary markets.
Working closely with the Trading team and in particular the lead green trader the candidate will be expected to assist with the development of CER, ERU and VER trading. As an emerging market the role will involve the undertaking of a thorough risk assessment of the opportunities and threats both within the trading markets and political arena.
Key elements of the role will include analysing the relative costs, risks and benefits of the different approaches, understanding the process and regulatory issues and the presentation of key issues.
Some International travel will be expected as the CER and JI market opportunities are identified and assessed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educated ideally to a minimum first-degree level within a related discipline.
Highly numerate with a good understanding and appreciation of the application of risk assessment techniques.
Understanding and appreciation of commercial law and contractual risk assessment.
Ideally previous experience within either a Front Office or Risk Management analytical discipline.
Preferable knowledge of the Kyoto protocol in relation to carbon reduction and the associated instruments of ETS, CDM and JI.

The candidate will be expected to display and continue to display all the necessary skills of a Trading professional and be expected to perform at the highest level.
The candidate must be a self-starter, committed and driven to deliver detailed risk assessments, and must be able to present complex issues confidently.
As a committed team player it is expected that the candidate will display initiative and be able to lead and manage projects within strict time schedules.
