Essential business knowledge for companies with international ambitions in the Middle East, says Hugh Fraser
Legal and business consultancy, Hugh Fraser International (HFI), is launching its new 2-day master class in international oil and gas law and contracts to energy sector delegates in Doha, the first opportunity for organisations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to participate in this specialist training.
Premiered in Europe in February, HFI’s new professional training programme for senior business and legal executives was hosted very successfully in the UK by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce in Scotland.
‘We have developed this intensive two-day programme after running legal and business training across the Middle East since 2007,’ says Hugh Fraser, HFI group managing partner. ‘At our European launch in Aberdeen we presented to delegates from small and large companies in the energy sector, where we found a high level of involvement, and lots of technical and strategic debate about our industry.
‘We are proud to be rolling out this programme in Doha in May, and expect to run it shortly afterwards in Abu Dhabi and Cairo.’
The course is being presented by HFI Group managing partner, Hugh Fraser, a Scottish corporate and business lawyer based in the Middle East.
Who should attend?
The Master Class is aimed at senior managers and others, including in-house legal people, owner-managers, chief executives, financial and commercial managers, and senior engineers or contracts specialists working in oil and gas sector businesses.
What does the course cover? Hugh Fraser has worked with large numbers of European businesses that have internationalised their operations across the Middle East and has tailored the course content to meet the needs of these companies. It offers a holistic view of the legal and business processes they need to appreciate.
‘The course covers all the important law and contract topics that companies involved in (or planning) internationalisation will need to grasp,’ he says.
‘We are focussing on companies who want an understanding of the complex business and legal environment for doing business with organisations in the Middle East oil and gas sector.’
The Master Class course content includes:
* State Control and Regulation of the International Oil & Gas Industry
* From Exploration to Abandonment: The Principal Contracts
* Managing Commercial and Legal Risks
* Managing Claims & Resolving Disputes
* Government Agreements with International Oil & Gas Companies
* Oil and Gas Joint Ventures
* Services Agreements: Drilling Contracts and EPC Contracts
* Asset Deals
* Future Trends: The Impact of Geopolitics and Technology
'Case studies and workshops ensure that this is an exciting and fully participative programme,' says Hugh Fraser. 'Engineers, finance directors, senior managers and in-house legal executives will all find this a stimulating and rewarding event.
'Qatar Petroleum, RasGas, ADCO, RAK Petroleum, Production Services Network, Petrofac and Superior Energy Services have so far attended similar courses run by HFI, and we know businesses will value this master class.'
