Hermes Datacomms has completed the installation of a multi-site 4 mbps C-Band SkyWire cloud for a major oilfield services company in Libya, only 5 days after the contract was signed.
Glynn Wagg, Country Manager Libya explains, " Hermes Datacomms won this contract due to our presence in Libya. The contract was signed and the system was installed by the engineering team from Tripoli just days later. As the oil and gas industry is starting to re-establish operations in Libya following the Civil uprising, companies require communication systems with immediate effect. Hermes' Regional Branch in Tripoli, 24/7 service and support and local engineers are all well equipped to answer these demands".
The VSAT system is providing the client with connectivity for their Headquarters in Tripoli, enabling them to re-establish office connections.
Glynn Wagg continues, "The majority of oil and gas companies were interfered with during the past few months and equipment and links will have to be reconnected, The Libyan situation has affected their business dramatically. Hermes Regional Office in Tripoli was not damaged, stock systems are ready for business and our satellite links are ready immediately."
Shaun Young, Regional Director of Asia Pacific and Libya, expands " During the unrest, we continued to provide full service and maintenance support. Hermes Datacomms uses technology that has proven to be reliable in Libya and our network designs are built on redundancy and no single point of failure. The local infrastructure will take some time to re-build but Hermes is positive about its future in Libya as we are equipped to provide full service in an established office, 24/7 local engineering support and in country stock".
