Titan Torque, a leading drilling solutions provider in the oil & gas industry, has clinched the Energy Award at a prestigious business ceremony in Aberdeen.
Titan was named the winner of the Energy Award at the 2011 Northern Star Business Awards at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre – the venue for Offshore Europe. More than 1,000 business people and industry influencers attended the event, hosted by TV presenter Gaby Roslin.
Keith Gaskin, managing director at Titan Torque, said: “We’re thrilled to win such a prestigious award. Not only will it help to raise the profile of the business, it is also recognition of the hard work by everyone connected to Titan Torque.”
Formed three years ago, the company was recognised for bringing new innovations and improved processes to the market. Titan has developed Kronos™, a technology-led casing hanger installation unit for the offshore sector.
Titan's Kronos™ device has been custom-built to install and remove hanger running tools in a safe, accurate and controlled operational process. The step-change unit, which went from concept to deployment in nine months and is already being used by key operators, represents a breakthrough in 'push and pull' operations.
"In our view Kronos™ takes running tool installation and removal work into a new era," says Keith. "It represents a robust, technology-based alternative to the less sophisticated methods conventionally used in the industry to date – our growing base of customers in this field is enjoying new levels of confidence."
The hydraulically-controlled 75ft tool has a push and pull capability of 32 tonnes and 28 tonnes respectively. With a capability to accommodate pipe from 36inches down to 4½inches, it is fully customisable and delivers measurable results for customers via a dedicated digital output function.
Titan Torque won the Wood Group Award for Innovation in 2010 for its Drill Bit Protector, which greatly improves offshore safety and reduces NPT (non-productive time) in offshore drilling by reducing the number of connections, and lifts as well as the use of rig tongs.
Bruce Jepp, Business Development Director at Titan Torque, said: “We’ve grown substantially in the past year from being a UK company to an international one with activity in South America, the Far East and West Africa. The business is in a strong position, but we must keep innovating and developing better solutions to stay ahead of the market.”
Titan’s capabilities extend to make up of over 150,000ft lbs and break out of over 200,000ft lbs of torque, enabling it to provide tailored solutions to all torque requirements.
The Northern Star Business Awards are organised by the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce. The Energy Award was sponsored by BG Group. For more information about Titan Torque’s solutions email info@titantorque.co.uk, or visit www.titantorque.co.uk
