Oliver Valvetek recently shaved 66% off their lead time on two subsea double block and bleed manifolds manufactured from Duplex UNS S31803 and required at short notice for a project 230 kilometres off the Aberdeen coast.

"The importance of the on-time shipment of the order was paramount,” explained David Moores, Internal Sales Engineer, “but this was a deadline made tighter by the customer’s request for an
independent third party review of the manifold body material certificates leaving only 26 days including weekends to complete the order.”

The order also stipulated the need for customer representatives to witness liquid penetrant inspection of the spindle and tip assemblies, manifold bodies and seal housings, positive material identification of the spindle and tip assemblies, manifold bodies and seal housings, feritscope examination of the manifold bodies and seal housings, hydrostatic seat tests and a 24 hour chart recorded body test at 15,000 psi.

Oliver Valvetek committed to have the goods available for collection on Wednesday 5th August and, despite clarification points during the witness inspection, OVT managed to maintain this date.

The manifolds were collected from Oliver Valvetek’s Knutsford headquarters at 10:50am on Wed 5th
August from where they were hand delivered to a representative of the customer at Manchester Airport who had flown in from Norway to hand carry the valves onboard the plane.

“It was like a Milk Tray advert,” said Mr Moores. “They were then flown from Manchester to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam to Stavanger for the appropriate quality procedure checks and
issuing of paperwork. The same representative then took the manifolds by ferry and road to Dusavik with the goods arriving at their final destination at 07:00 the next day.
