Aberdeen, United Kingdom, (19 August 2009) - AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has appointed Paddy Mallan as Director of its Production Operations business. This move clearly demonstrates AMEC’s commitment to grow its mature asset management and production enhancement capabilities.

The appointment follows AMEC’s acquisition earlier this year of Performance Improvements (PI) and the continued development of the ‘walk to work’ offshore access system.

Paddy joins AMEC from Petrofac Facilities Management where he was responsible for a significant proportion of its international and North Sea operations, maintenance and support contracts. In addition to nine years with Petrofac, Paddy has considerable previous operations experience including a six-year track record with Marathon in its UK business.

As well as bringing extensive onshore and offshore operations expertise to AMEC, Paddy has considerable board level experience and has served on various industry bodies such as OCA (Offshore Contractors Association) and FPAL (First Point Assessment).

Sandy Clark, European Operations Director of AMEC’s Natural Resources division, said: “I am delighted to announce that Paddy Mallan will be joining our European Oil and Gas business in the role of Production Operations Director, reporting to me. Paddy will be responsible for all our current duty holder and operations and maintenance activities as well as growing our Production Operations business. Coupled with our existing experience, Paddy’s will considerably enhance our capability and standing in the market place.”

Paddy commented, ”The future for the North Sea depends on the ability of operators and contractors to add value to assets and to extend field life. I am confident that AMEC’s future is linked to value creation for our clients as opposed to the traditional ‘cost’ scenario which has dominated operators’ thinking in the past.”
