Thrustmaster Outboard Propulsion Unit, Model OD2000N
Included:
- 2 x Model OD-2000N Hydraulic Outboard Thruster Units
- 2 x Caterpillar 3516B Marine Diesel Propulsion Engines with HPU
- 2 x Connex Boxes with miscellaneous hoses, spares, and Kongsberg Control Units
- All available manuals and documentation for components.
Design Standards:
- DNV ICE-1C for Thrusters
- 20T Bollard pull minimum per thruster
Equipment Condition:
- Equipment is considered NEW. System was installed but never commissioned.
- Caterpillar engines have less than 5 hours on them combined.
History:
- The Thrustmaster package including thrusters, HPU’s, and Kongsberg control system was installed on the Shell CDU Kulluk in 2007. Prior to complete installation and commissioning, the project was delayed and all progress was halted. The system remained mostly installed on the Kulluk in the Arctic through 2010. In mid-2010 the Kulluk was moved to Dutch Harbor, Alaska with no ongoing work on the Thruster installation. Near this time it was also decided to remove the thrusters when the Kulluk was in the shipyard in 2011. This decision was made due to regulatory and operational changes, not due to any technical issues with the Thrustmaster units.
