Aberdeen-headquartered artificial lift completion specialist, Pumptools Ltd, and Yorkshire-based electrical penetrator specialists, RMS Ltd, have merged to become RMSpumptools Ltd.
As part of the James Fisher & Sons plc Group, the synergies between both companies will enable the combined business to build on their successful track records and offer a wider product range for artificial lift ESP applications
The new company’s headquarters will be located at Pumptools’ existing Dyce premises in Aberdeen, with manufacturing taking place at RMS’ existing facility in Yorkshire. The new firm will employ 70 members of staff.
Stan Foster-Rooke, RMSpumptools’ managing director, said “Pumptools and RMS benefit from the same customer base and the combined unique depth of skills of both businesses will strengthen RMSpumptools’ capability to innovate and develop products that will further improve the application of ESPs and their life expectancy throughout the world.

The move will provide improved customer service and our one source supply will streamline our operations and improve our competitive advantage, increasingly demanded by our customers in today’s challenging economic climate.”
The merger will also see the creation of a subsea division, a key target market for RMSpumptools. The company’s extended product offering includes fully automated Dual ESP systems and subsea wetmateable connectors.
RMSpumptools was officially launched at the Society of Petroleum Engineers ESP workshop at The Woodlands, Texas, yesterday (April 29), where members of the team from Britain and Houston were in attendance. During the workshop, the company showcased its new innovative designs and technological advances.
RMSpumptools currently has regional offices throughout the world including Thailand, Oman, Ecuador, Venezuela and Australia.
