Significant Milestone reached at Great Yarmouth-based occupational health provider
Occupational Health experts Abermed Limited will, this year, celebrate their 35th year in business. This milestone coincides with structural adjustments within the running of the Great Yarmouth and Norwich units following the recent acquisition of the business by the world’s leading provider of integrated medical and security assistance, International SOS, towards the end of 2009.
The changes will see Phil Smith, who is also marking 21 years with the business, move from his former position of Managing Director to Executive Director. Meanwhile, Stefan Bristow will take over the day-to-day running of the offices as Unit Manager.
In 2005 the North Sea Medical Centre and its assets, which included the Hyperbaric Chamber, was sold to Abermed Limited, a UK company specialising in a range of occupational health services and offshore medical assessments.
Phil Smith commented that the changes would allow the company to continue to implement an entrepreneurial strategy. “I am delighted take on this new role with the aim to help execute and synchronise the strategies of Abermed and International SOS. I have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the achievement that the unit has had over the last two decades and anticipate more of the same success in forthcoming years.”
Stefan Bristow added that client-focus was a key element behind the operational changes. “We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation and these developments will enable us to continue to meet the needs and requirements of our current and prospective clients. I am delighted to take on this new role with the aim to help Abermed progress and focus on our commitment to quality and added-value.”
Recent changes have also seen James Miller move to Chief Executive and Chairman of Abermed Limited, and Ross Haworth take over the role of Managing Director of the group.
In light of these developments, further jobs are expected to be created at the company during the forthcoming year. Abermed, headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, have sites across the U.K and Kazakhstan.
