Midland Valley, a leading software and consultancy services provider to the upstream oil and gas industry, recently launched the Young Geoscientist Program which sees them provide new graduates with a free personal copy of their structural modelling and analysis software, Move.
The Young Geoscientist program was announced at the AAPG 2011 ACE in Houston and aims to assist young professionals making that critical step from university into employment by providing young professionals with a single, year-long license for the complete Move suite, valid for twelve months after graduation.
Midland Valley hopes that by providing recent graduates with Move they will continue to develop their expertise. They can also use the license to prepare for interviews, complete presentations and publication materials based on their academic work and, if they get the opportunity, use the license to make some money as the Young Geoscientist license can be used commercially.
Graduates who enlist in the program will receive an electronic copy of tutorials, available on the software disc, and access to the Geo Help and Client Support Teams.
Midland Valley Chairman Dr Alan Gibbs commented “getting that first step up on the career ladder is always difficult and everyone needs a bit of help. We hope this will enable new graduates to continue to develop their expertise and an opportunity to enhance their CV through professional development or by providing them with the means to conduct consulting projects on their own”.
The Program builds on Midland Valley’s Academic Software Initiative (ASI) which launched in 2008 and provides unlimited software licenses of the Move Suite to academic institutes worldwide for research and teaching.
