Zeta Petroleum Completes Duzce-1 Exploration Well in Turkey

Monday, December 08, 2008

The drilling of the Duzce-1 exploration well has now been completed, and the well has been plugged and abandoned.

The well was drilled to a depth of 1,200 meters on 21 November 2008 and was then logged. The well was drilled on budget and on schedule.

During the drilling operation the well did not encounter any significant gas shows and the log interpretation did not show hydrocarbons across the target intervals. Stratigraphy was broadly intersected as expected; however, further analysis of the drilling information is required to confirm this.

The Duzce-1 well targeted a previously undrilled sub-basin and has provided valuable information which will allow a further review of the prospectivity of the area. Zeta is currently working to integrate this new data into the existing data set and to re-evaluate the prospectivity of the area. There remains further potential within the licenses: targeting a similar play to that already tested and shallower gas potential from a different reservoir and petroleum play.
