Caroline Gill, winner of the 2008 Oil & Gas UK Award for Overall Excellence, is urging fellow young professionals to enter this year's Oil & Gas UK Awards and have their skills, determination and achievements recognised before over 700 leading industry representatives.
Looking at her own career progression since winning the Oil & Gas UK Award for Overall Excellence in 2008, Ms Gill said: "Winning the award has given me opportunities, both large and small, that I would otherwise not have had. At Shell, I am still involved with the Nelson field, but my role has evolved and I am now responsible for rebuilding the reservoir model and I am also involved in operations geology for some wells drilled on the field.
"Outside of Shell, I had the opportunity to speak at a number of conferences and present various papers; I was one of the youngest presenters to speak at the 7th Petroleum Geology Conference in London and have since been invited to write a review on the event. I have also been asked to speak at the opening session of Energise your Future at Offshore Europe.
"Winning the award was a huge honour for me and has opened up a number of new opportunities and experiences. There is a lot of talent in our industry and I would urge everyone to pick up a nomination form and enter the Awards for a chance to have their achievements honoured and recognised by industry."
Nominations for both the individual and corporate categories open on 1 June 2009.
