The tracts offered were in the Western Planning Area offshore Texas. The lease sale brought USD 337,688,341 in high bids submitted by 20 companies. A total of 241 bids were submitted on 191 tracts, that covered approximately 1 million acres.
Only 191 of the 3913 tracts offered received high bids. Of these, 87% were in water depths greater than 800 metres and 31% were in water depths of 1,600 metres or greater.
