WesternZagros Provides Update on Sarqala-1, Iraq

11 September 2008

WesternZagros Resources Ltd. announced today that as drilling has proceeded at Sarqala-1, the well encountered an overpressured formation at a depth of approximately 2,300 metres which was significantly shallower than anticipated. Inconclusive oil and gas shows were also encountered. Following a 22 day delay in drilling, during which the Company managed the overpressure, casing was run. Following this, managed pressure drilling equipment was installed and drilling resumed on September 5, 2008. The well is currently drilling at approximately 2,500 metres.

Simon Hatfield, President of WesternZagros commented, "Despite the drilling challenges encountered in this well, we have seen nothing which changes our enthusiasm for the prospectivity of this block and the reservoirs we are targeting."
