WestSide Completes Expanded Drill Program at Paranui CSG Pilot

Friday, July 04, 2008

WestSide Corporation Ltd has completed drilling for the expanded testing program at its Paranui coal seam gas (CSG) pilot, with the fifth well reaching a final depth of 1,061 meters.

The expanded pilot is expected to enhance prospects for certifying gas reserves within the Paranui CSG pilot in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

The decision to drill the additional well, Paranui #8, was made by WestSide and joint venture partner Sunshine Gas Ltd (50%) last week following promising gas shows while drilling the previous four pilot wells.

Work at the Paranui #8 well progressed quickly and it has now been logged. Significant coal seams are being under-reamed before the well is completed for production testing later this month.

The Paranui pilot includes three appraisal wells, Paranui #5R, #6R and #8, and two observation wells Paranui #4 and #7. The Paranui #5R and #6R wells have been cased and subjected to multi-phase fracture stimulation processes, while the Paranui #8 well will be under-reamed and completed with a slotted-liner. The three appraisal wells will be placed on an extended production test.

Forthcoming operations
Significant coal seams intersected by the Paranui #8 well will be under-reamed and cased with slotted liner before being suspended for subsequent completion as an appraisal well for production testing.
A work-over rig is expected to install pumping and monitoring equipment in the Paranui #4, #5R and #8 wells later in July.

WestSide and its joint venture partner, Sunshine Gas Ltd (50%), are currently reviewing plans for the next stage of activities at Paranui.
