Petsec Energy Appoints Non-Executive Director

Petsec Energy Ltd announce that Mr Michael L Harvey has joined the board as a non-executive director. He is welcomed to the board by the current directors - Mr David Mortimer, Dr Peter Power and Mr Terrence Fern.

Mr Harvey is a third generation Texan oil man who brings a wealth of experience of establishment and successful growth of exploration and production (E&P) companies in S-E Asia and the Gulf of Mexico, USA.

Mr Harvey is a US citizen, domiciled in Houston, USA. He graduated from Texas A&M University in Economics and Finance, then served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot with the rank of Captain in the US Army.

He began his exploration and production career with Shell in 1973 then General Crude Oil Company before joining Roy M Huffington Inc. as Vice President - Land, in 1979, responsible for the Company's extensive operations in S-E Asia - China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia.

Since 1987 to date, he has founded and been the CEO of four private US E&P companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Coast of the USA. Between 1987 and 1998 he established, grew and sold Gulfstar Petroleum Corporation and Gulfstar Energy Inc. In 2000 he founded Gryphon Exploration Inc., funded as to US$80 million by Warburg Pincus, and sold to the Australian company Woodside Petroleum Ltd for US$285 million in 2005.

In 2007 he founded Stonegate Production Company, where he is Chairman and CEO, funded as to US$250 million by private equity firms.

Mr Harvey is a non-executive director of the listed Norwegian company Scorpion Offshore which builds and deploys offshore rigs for international operations.
