Oilvoice Launch Worldwide University Access Initiative

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Oilvoice.com (‘Oilvoice’), the subscription website for the upstream oil and gas industry, has launched a new university initiative aimed at providing information and promoting awareness of the industry to the next generation of geoscientists and engineers.

The lack of new talent entering the industry is widely recognised as a problem which needs to be addressed. Oilvoice has developed the ‘Free University Access Initiative’ which is beneficial to both the industry and universities.

When subscribing to Oilvoice, industry companies can elect to pay a small premium which will allow them to nominate a university of their choice to benefit from unrestricted access to the Oilvoice website. This gives university undergraduates free access to more than 470 company profiles, continually updated industry news and statistical data, and offers the sponsoring companies a chance to raise their profile within the all important graduate market.

Three oil companies, Tullow Oil, Granby Oil & Gas and Afren, have already signed up to the initiative. Tullow have elected to sponsor University College Cork in Ireland, Granby are sponsoring Leeds University in the UK, and Afren are to sponsor two Nigerian universities. The initiative will be limited to 40 industry companies who will be able to elect to sponsor any university in the world.

Commenting on the launch of the initiative, Oilvoice Managing Director, Chris Pettit said: ‘This is a great platform for the industry to provide worldwide undergraduates with access to a valuable source of oil industry reference. We are delighted that Tullow, Granby and Afren have already signed up to the initiative and look forward to welcoming on board more industry companies and universities.’
