Oilennium Announces Key Personnel Appointments

Monday, October 06, 2008

Oilennium Ltd, a leading provider of training programmes to the international oil and gas industry, today announced that it has made two key personnel appointments in order to keep up with demand.

Jonathan Harvey has been appointed to the position of Senior Instructional Designer. In his new role, Harvey is responsible for overseeing the design and production of e-learning solutions for clients. His primary objective is to ensure that creative instructional strategies provided to Oilennium’s clients are effective. To achieve this, he designs and writes course content, and works closely with clients and Oilennium’s team of graphic designers, multimedia designers and courseware developers.

During his 10 years in the creative design field, Harvey has developed an expertise in animation, design and e-learning solutions. Before joining Oilennium, he worked in Norwich as a freelance consultant providing clients with creative design and animation services for over two years. Previously, he worked for seven years as a Creative Designer for LJ Create, which specialises in technology and science-based learning for schools around the world.

Originally from Hethersett, England, Harvey holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Practices/Arts from Norwich University College of the Arts in Norwich, England.

Kirby Brings Oil and Gas Expertise
With Harvey managing the instructional design side of the business, Phill Kirby has been appointed to the position of Technical Manager. With 20 years of experience in operations management in the oil and gas industry, Kirby works to ensure that Oilennium’s training programmes reflect current safety standards and the highest levels of industry practice in the global oil and gas sector. “My primary aims are to continuously monitor the accuracy of all of our training programmes, whether they focus on project management or offer training in operating equipment,’’ said Kirby. “Our clients tell us that it is our hands-on experience that differentiates us”.

Originally from Suffolk, England, Kirby launched his oil career as a Roustabout in 1984 with Rowan Drilling. In 1988 he moved on to Schlumberger as a Wireline Operator, and worked in a number of Production Technology roles before accepting the position of Operations Coordinator with Weatherford UK in Great Yarmouth. By 2002, he had progressed to the position of Operations & Project Manager for DDV & Membrane Services, responsible for the Europe, West Africa & CIS Region. Before joining Oilennium this summer, he worked as a Construction Coordinator for SLP Energy in Great Yarmouth.

Harvey and Kirby report to Kevin Keable, Managing Director of Oilennium, and are based at the company’s headquarters in Beccles in Suffolk, England.

With demand from the oil and gas industry for its e-learning solutions and training services up 600% since 2007, Harvey and Kirby are just two of several new employees who have joined the firm in recent months. “We must continue to provide clients with effective solutions to learning. Anyone can tell students information. It’s our job to ensure that they learn!” said Keable. “With Phill’s hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry, and Jonathan’s expertise in developing custom internet and computer-based learning programmes, I am confident that they will each contribute a great deal to our continuing success in this very exciting industry,” he added.
