Talisman, a North Sea oil company has been ordered by Health and Safety Executive to improve living and working conditions on its Tartan Alpha platform following an inspection by the agency that revealed platform "overcrowding".
The agency gave the company time till March to make the necessary changes to the living conditions of the personnel to establish a more conducive work environment.
Aberdeen-based Talisman however has decided to appeal in a tribunal which has scheduled a hearing by end of March.
An HSE spokeswoman said: "A notice was served about overcrowding in accommodation cabins on the Tartan Alpha platform resulting in a lack of privacy and insufficient shower and toilet facilities.
"As proceedings are active we are not able to comment further."
