Meridian Petroleum plc, the oil and gas exploration and production company with assets in the United States and Australia, announces that Angelo K. Baskaran has been appointed to the Board of Directors as Chief Financial Officer with immediate effect. He replaces Peter Fleming, who has left the Company to pursue other activities.
Mr. Baskaran has spent over 20 years in accounting and finance on an international basis specialising in fast growth companies both private and public. He has extensive experience in cross border mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance. He is currently involved in structuring and raising private equity and debt in relation to mid market companies in the United States as well as managing The Iona Fund, which is a globally focused future and options based hedge fund.
Since 2001, Angelo has been the Director of Corporate Finance at LCL Merchant Partners, Inc. Previously he was executive vice president of MBf Asia Capital Corporation based out of Hong Kong and a vice president of the New York based private equity firm, The Chart Group LP. He started his career as a chartered accountant with RSM Robson Rhodes in London.
Mr. Baskaran holds a Masters Degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, together with the Karl F. Landegger Honors Certificate in International Business Diplomacy. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the CASS Business School at The City University, London. He is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with Associate Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
Mr. Baskaran has confirmed that there are no further disclosures required under Schedule 2 paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules, and that he has no shareholding in the Company.
