Maersk Oil has participated in the ninth Brazilian oil and gas exploration licence round and was successful in four bids.
Maersk Oil was awarded blocks C-M-560 and C-M-591 in the South Campos basin as operator (50% interest) together with OGX (50% interest). The blocks cover an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, situated some 100 kilometers southeast off the coast of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of 100 - 150 meters. The commitment comprises acquisition of 3D seismic data and drilling of two exploration wells.
Further, Maersk Oil was awarded blocks S-M-791 and S-M-792 in the South Santos basin (30% interest) together with Petrobras (Operator, 40% interest) and CVRD (30% interest). The blocks cover an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, situated some 150 kilometers southeast off the coast of São Paulo at a water depth of 100 - 150 meters. The commitment comprises acquisition of 3D seismic data and drilling of one exploration well in each block.
Maersk Oil is currently active in Brazil in block BM-S-29 as operator (100% interest), situated some 130 kilometers southeast off the coast of São Paulo.
