Halliburton to Help ONGC Redevelop 3 Fields

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

India's largest oil producer, ONGC, has today confirmed it had signed an agreement with Halliburton Company to help raise output from three of its fields in the northeastern state of Assam.

The state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp said in a statement the world's number 2-oilfield services company had plans to expand its operations in India, quoting Halliburton's Chief Operating Officer Andy Lane.

"Setting up a research and development facility in Pune is on the cards apart from recruiting engineers from India," it said. ONGC, India's most valuable company, said the agreement would help it improve output from its Lakwa, Lakhmani and Geleki fields. "More fields may be added in future," it said, but did not give details.
