The Energy Institute (EI) welcomes the publication of the Government's first Annual Energy Statement with its focus on a mix of solutions across all energy sectors and wants to emphasise the vital need for training and skills.
'The scale of change to the UK's energy system is both daunting and invigorating. The solutions for a low carbon energy infrastructure are within our grasp but there is a premium on the technology and engineering skills needed to get the job done', says James Smith FEI, Chairman of Shell UK and EI President. 'Industry, Government and the education sector need to make sure the skills will be there.'
'The energy sector can provide great career opportunities. As the leading professional body for the energy industry, the EI has much to offer in supporting the skills base development that is so essential for retooling the UK's energy infrastructure.'
