Dirk Warzecha takes over as General Manager of the Egyptian RWE Dea subsidiary RWE Dea Egypt, based in Cairo.
Starting in May, Dirk Warzecha will be the new General Manager of RWE Dea Egypt. After a number of professional milestones which included working in Ecuador and Tunisia, the engineering graduate joined RWE Dea in 2003. Prior to his posting to Cairo, he was head of operations at the RWE Dea Production District Schleswig-Holstein, which is responsible for production from Germany's biggest oil field, Mittelplate.??
Warzecha succeeds to Hans-Hermann Ecke, who was appointed as Senior Vice President New Ventures at RWE Dea's Head Office in Hamburg, Germany. Ecke, who holds a doctorate in geology, was appointed General Manager of the company in Egypt in 2009.??
RWE Dea and its predecessor organisation have been operating successfully in Egypt since as far back as 1974 and, as operator, can look back on three decades of oil production in the Gulf of Suez. Last year the company announced plans to invest 3.6 billion US dollars in field developments in the North Alexandria and West Mediterranean Deep Water concessions - the company's biggest single investment to date. RWE Dea holds twelve onshore and offshore concessions in Egypt.
