Chrysaor 205/26a-7 Well Successfully Appraises Solan West of Shetlands Oil Discovery

Monday, September 15, 2008

Chrysaor Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Chrysaor Holdings Limited) announces the drilling of a successful appraisal well and planned sidetrack on the previously fallow 205/26a-4 discovery.

The initial wellbore 205/26a-7, which was drilled to the north of the original 205/26a-4 discovery, encountered 85 vertical feet of net oil bearing Jurassic reservoir. This was shallow and thick compared to the pre-drill prognosis and in good pressure communication with the original discovery well.

On completion of coring, fluid sampling and other logging operations, this well was sidetracked as 205/26a-7z to provide depth control for a 2009 producer well and also to appraise the updip Triassic reservoir under the western part of the Jurassic accumulation. Neither well was conventionally flow tested as the reservoir had two previous successful well tests including one with a downhole ESP.

The rig came off contract on 16 August and initial evaluation work indicates the reservoir will be commercial. Chrysaor intends to submit a Field Development Plan to DBERR (the Department for Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform) in the first quarter of 2009 when its reservoir remodelling and development plans have been finalised. Subject to the normal consent procedures first oil is expected in the summer of 2010.

The wells were drilled with no lost time or environmental incidents using the Byford Dolphin and with the assistance of Senergy. Chrysaor is delighted to have committed to work with the same rig and team in 2009 to drill a producer and water injector on the field, with drilling operations anticipated to commence in May 2009.
