10 December 2009

The Integrated Drilling Ocean Program (IODP) through its European operator has awarded Bluestone Offshore with an US$ 8 million contract for a scientific drilling project at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

The expedition is part of an international program where a team of 25 worldwide scientists and researchers from institutions and universities will be onboard Bluestone Offshore's drilling vessel, the Maya, to document and study climate change-related effects on the Great Barrier Reef area.

The project includes coring, sampling, logging and testing in 38 locations with water depths from 30m to 200m.

For daily logs and further details about the expedition, visit the Bluestone Offshore website and the IODP website.
