Baker Hughes Incorporated announced today that the international rig count for May 2008 was 1,075, up 1 from the 1,074 counted in April 2008, and up 68 from the 1,007 counted in May 2007. The international offshore rig count for May 2008 was 305, up 8 from the 297 counted in April 2008 and up 9 from the 296 counted in May 2007.
The US rig count for May 2008 was 1863, up 34 from the 1,829 counted in April 2008 and up 115 from the 1,748 counted in May 2007. The Canadian rig count for May 2008 was 135, up 29 from the 106 counted in April 2008 and up 28 from the 107 counted in May 2007.
The worldwide rig count for April 2008 was 3,073, up 64 from the 3,009 counted in April 2008 and up 211 from the 2,862 counted in May 2007.
