Amor Group Secures Contract With National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago

Friday, January 29, 2010

Scottish business technology solutions provider Amor Group has been awarded a $750,000 (USD) contract with the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) to design and install a gas management system for the Cross Island Pipeline system in the Caribbean.

As a leading provider of business technology solutions, the Amor Group - based in Aberdeen and Glasgow - successfully tendered for the work on the back of its strong track record in hydrocarbon accounting and experience of working with other companies in Trinidad and Tobago.

The deal will see Amor Group provide a gas management system based on its RT-HAS solution, which can generate considerable cost savings for customers and is being showcased at this week's Trinidad and Tobago Energy Conference and tradeshow in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

The contract will be managed by Amor Group's recently opened office in Houston, Texas, which was set up to service the company's clients with US operations and drive new business development across the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago purchases, transports and sells natural gas and the pipeline will supply gas to an LNG facility, large petrochemical plants, power generation facilities and other gas based industries. The Cross Island Pipeline is part of NGC's ongoing drive to position the country as a key player in the global natural gas industry, amid major investment in the region's energy sector.

NGC initially developed a gas management system based on a manual spreadsheet but appointed Amor Group to implement an integrated and automated system to maximise operational efficiencies.

Developed over the course of 16 years, Amor Group's RT-HAS system is a fully configurable end-to-end web-based solution, allowing operators to accurately manage their hydrocarbon production, planning and reporting both efficiently and cost effectively.

The use of automated systems cuts down on manual interaction so there is less chance of errors that could potentially result in penalties.

John Innes, Chief Executive Officer of Amor Group, said:
'This is major win for us and we are delighted to be working with the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago to design a comprehensive system that allows them to manage the fiscal arrangements and taxation implications of the pipeline.

'Companies are now looking for ways of even more cost effective and efficient ways of operating, and one of the key benefits of this system is often considerable cost savings.

'This contract will be managed by our office in Houston, which we opened to allow us to better service our clients who are operating in the USA.

'Over the past 20 years, we have built up an extensive bank of knowledge and experience in the energy sector in the North Sea in particular, and we have developed world class products and services that improve the production operations of our clients, including process control system security, alarm management and production optimisation.

'We are now able to share this expertise further afield, and our strong links with the energy industry in Houston meant it was an obvious choice for our US base. We plan to recruit additional consultants and engineers as our business grows on the other side of the Atlantic.'

Up to seven Amor Group employees will be deployed on the project as the solution is designed, implemented and tested before being installed and commissioned on site in the Caribbean.

The project is expected to take around six months.
