Aminex Announces Extension of Licence in Tanzania

Monday, August 20, 2007

Aminex PLC, the oil and gas company listed in London and Dublin, announces the grant of a six-month extension to the current phase of its Nyuni/East Songo-Songo exploration licence offshore Tanzania. The two well drilling programme planned for 2007 was due to be completed by the end of the current phase in November but has been delayed due to mechanical hold-ups with the current contractor’s drilling rig, as previously advised to shareholders. The Tanzanian Minister of Energy and Mines has now granted a formal extension of the Group’s commitment period to 19 May 2008.

Commenting on the extension, Aminex Chairman Brian Hall said:

“As in the past, the Tanzanian authorities have been extremely helpful and co-operative in resolving an issue which has arisen due to circumstances outside our control. We are very grateful for their continued support. Subject to unforeseen circumstances, we plan to have completed this drilling programme well within the six month extension period.”

The Nyuni partners are:
Ndovu Resources Ltd. (100% Aminex subsidiary - operator) 39%
Key Petroleum Ltd. 20%
RAK Gas Ltd. 25%
East Africa Exploration Company Ltd. 10%
