Geology.com is published by Hobart King, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Geology at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Dr. King holds degrees in geology from California University of Pennsylvania (B.S. 1975) and West Virginia University (M.S. 1978, Ph.D. 1982). He is a registered professional geologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Dr. King worked as a geologist at the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey (1980-1994), holding positions as coal geologist, economic geologist and Head of the Economic Minerals and Geologic Hazard Section. He has been on the faculty of Mansfield University since 1994. His research and teaching interests center around teaching with technology. He taught Mansfield University's first online course and is the author of Hazard City: Assignments in Applied Geology, a CD that accompanies introductory geology textbooks published by Prentice Hall.
