Energistics

Energistics is an international not-for-profit membership organization. It is uniquely designed to unite industry people, issues and ideas to facilitate E&P information sharing and business process integration. The organization has custody and manages the evolution of open data, information and process standards for the industry.

A great strength is our status as a neutral forum for collaborative learning and sharing. This environment allows the E&P industry to focus its competitive activities on business solutions rather than on common problems from which no real competitive advantage can be gained.

Capabilities

Our initial effort was to derive and publish a set of specifications to improve sharing of technical information within and among oil companies, oil field service companies, governments and other players in the industry. These specifications are being used directly or as references in commercial products and in energy companies around the world.

Building on this foundation, the current focus is on major initiatives that are driven to full-scale market deployment, deliver tangible bottom-line value, and are heavily leveraged with broad membership involvement. On ongoing activity is the management and growth of The Energy Standards Resource Centre, a compendium of information about industry standards and best practices, whether ours or from other industry groups. The goal of the Centre is be a valuable one-stop shopping place for industry standards whether for use, for incorporation in products, or for evolution and growth.

Membership

We provide a forum for companies to collaborate in a non-competitive setting. Additionally, this environment presents a greater understanding of requirements among the supplier and oil community.

Since the formation of the predecessor organization, POSC, in 1990, membership has been the mainstay and source of strength for the organization. The current membership numbers more than 60 organizations. We are intent to expanding the depth geographically and in terms of industry viewpoint (energy (international and national), service, software, integrator, regulator, academic, etc.). Led by the major energy and service companies, the organization is prepared to tackle major challenges for the overall benefit of the industry.
