Production
Production amounted to 6.3 million barrels of oil equivalent ('MMVOE') during 2005. This production was 19% lower than for 2004, but 5% higher than expected, owing to the fact that the natural decline of production in the majority of the producing fields was less than previously assumed. Oil accounted for 75% of production (in 2004: 77%). The contribution from the Dutch sector of the Continental Shelf amounted to 35% of the total production (in 2004: 41%). The Elgin and Franklin oil and gas fields in the British sector of the Continental Shelf accounted for the largest portion of total production with more than 26% (1.6 MMVOE), followed by the Hanze oil field in the Dutch sector of the Continental Shelf with 21% (1.3 MMVOE).
