Xodus CEO to Address Energy Young Professionals in Aberdeen
Sunday, March 07, 2010
The first seminar of 2010 hosted by the Young Professionals in Oil and Gas group (YPOG) takes place in Aberdeen on Thursday (March 11) with CEO of international energy consultancy Xodus Group Colin Manson confirmed as the key speaker.
An engineer to trade, Colin left Wood Group Engineering in 1997 to join Genesis Oil and Gas Ltd where he attempted a management buy-out before forming Xodus Group.
He will address an audience of approximately 200 young professionals working in the Aberdeen energy industry at the event, which is organised by professional services firms Deloitte and McGrigors LLP.
In less than five years Colin has helped drive his company forward evolving into an international energy organisation that employs 270 staff across offices in Aberdeen, London, Edinburgh, Orkney, Perth and Kuala Lumpur.
In 2009 the company turnover was £22million and by 2011 projections estimate it will hit £32million.
During his address he will share with the audience the start up challenges he faced, such as raising the finance to start the business and how he transformed an empty shell into a fully operational office in just three months.
Colin will also offer an interesting insight into how he restructured the company to accommodate the speed of growth and reveal the lessons learned when Xodus completed its first acquisition.
Louise McPherson, who leads the Young Professionals programme for Deloitte, said:
'We are delighted to have someone of Colin's experience speaking at the first YPOG event of 2010. There's no doubt his entrepreneurial flair and achievements will be of interest to and resonate with our audience'.
Neil Hehir, Senior Solicitor, McGrigors said:The development of the Xodus Group is an exciting story which our audience will doubtless find very inspirational."
The seminar, on 11 March, will take place at the Aberdeen Art Gallery; it starts with a drinks reception at 5.45pm with Mr Manson's presentation at 6.45pm.
