Subsea UK Recognises the Stars of 2009

The shortlist for the 2010 British subsea industry's awards has today been unveiled. The list of finalists sees a total of 14 large, small and medium sized companies in with a chance at winning a highly sought after Subsea UK Business Award.

The awards are a recognition of excellence and achievement across the rapidly expanding world-leading subsea sector.

The winners will be announced during Europe's biggest subsea event, Subsea 2010, at a glittering awards dinner on February 10. This year's dinner, sponsored by Triton Group, has attracted over 600 industry leaders, representing companies that cover the full spectrum of UK subsea excellence in oil and gas and other energy sectors.

The shortlisted finalists are:

Emerging Talent - sponsored by Fugro

• Liam Blair, Subsea 7

The New Enterprise Award - sponsored by Technip

• NCS Survey

The Subsea Innovation & Technology Award - sponsored by Simmons & Co International
• GE Oil & Gas
• Atkins Boreas
• VerdErg

The Subsea Global Exports Award - sponsored by UK Trade & Investment
• First Subsea
• Optical Metrology Services
• Dominion Gas

An award will also be made to the individual who has made the greatest contribution to the subsea industry in 2009.

Subsea UK chief executive, Alistair Birnie, said:
'These awards are an excellent and important opportunity to highlight those outstanding organisations and individuals who have shown great flair, innovation, creativity and vision in our industry in the last 12 months. These individuals and organisations have not only helped shape the industry's past but will be a vital part of driving forward its future.

'The subsea sector is full of driven and highly accomplished individuals and we look forward to recognising their achievements and rewarding them for success in what has been a very challenging year.

'We added two new categories to this year's proceedings to recognise key areas for the future success of this industry - innovation and technology and internationalisation.

'There have been major advances in these areas over the last year and we were delighted to see so many worthy nominations in these categories.'
