New Managing Director for Maersk Oil in the UK

Aberdeen-based Maersk Oil North Sea UK Limited announces the appointment of Martin Rune Pedersen as its new Managing Director, following the retirement of current MD Tom van Leenen.
'I am really looking forward to developing Maersk Oil in the UK and taking on the business challenges and opportunities,' said Martin. 'We have a very experienced and skilled team of people who are building on Maersk Oil's ability to turn marginal and older fields into profitable production. We have an excellent track record in Exploration and winning licenses, and in field development, and our intention is to grow a long term sustainable business in the UK.'
Martin has been the Director of Petroleum Engineering for Maersk Oil in the UK since 2007, and will assume his new role on 1 September 2010.
