Meeting in Paris between Pierre Gadonneix, EDF’s Chairman and CEO, and Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom

As part of ongoing discussions with Gazprom, the world’s leading producer of natural gas, a meeting took place in Paris today between Pierre Gadonneix, EDF’s Chairman and CEO and Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom to consider the prospects for cooperation between the two groups, particularly the possible acquisition by EDF of a minority holding in the South Stream gas pipeline project aimed at connecting Russia with Europe, in partnership with the Italian energy company, ENI.
If the project comes to fruition, the EDF Group will take a major step forward in its gas strategy whilst helping secure supply of gas to France.
Following a friendly and constructive meeting, the two CEO’s confirmed their wish to continue discussions, which are expected to culminate in an agreement being signed in the near future.
