Farm-in Opportunity - UKCS Outer Moray Firth Volante Prospect
Monday, November 02, 2009
Wintershall (E&P) Limited is seeking partner(s) to farm-in to the UKCS Outer Moray Firth Volante Prospect (License P.1303; Blocks 20/2b and 20/3d).
Overview:
The Lower Cretaceous Volante Prospect is located in the Outer Moray Firth.
Trap is a basin floor turbidite fan that pinches out up dip at the paleo-shelf break to the NW (against the Grampian Spur). The sand body has point source geometry and shows compaction mounding. Oil is believed to be stratigraphically trapped in the Punt Sandstone Member.
A distinct amplitude anomaly and a possible flat spot are present. A seismic voxel study shows the basin floor fan as an internally connected, isolated body (no connection to feeder channel). Top seal is provided by the Lower Cretaceous Valhall Shale, the bottom seal by the Upper Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay, which is the mature source rock.
Volante contains recoverable resources of up to 177 MMboe.
