Edison International Announces Iran Exploration/Development Farm-in Opportunity

Edison International (Iran Branch) announces an exploration/development farm-in opportunity offshore Iran, close to existing large fields.

Edison signed an Exploration & Development contract with National Iranian Oil Company in 2008 for Dayyer Block. The Block covers an area of 8,580 sq kms in shallow waters in the most prolific hydrocarbon basin of the world and is surrounded by giant fields (North Pars, Kangan, Nar, Assaluyeh, Ferdowsi & Golshan) and supergiant North Dome-South Pars Fields.

The total reserves amount to 18 Tcf gas and 700 mmbbl of recoverable condensates. The prospective resources of oil play are estimated at over 1 billion barrels. A prospect has been defined and a well targeting the Khuff gas play is planned in early 2011.
