Dana Petroleum Announces Gas And Condensate Discovery At Fulla, Norway

Thursday, February 05, 2009

Dana Petroleum has announced a gas and condensate discovery at the Fulla prospect offshore Norway. StatoilHydro Petroleum AS, as operator for production licence 362/035B, has completed the drilling of Fulla with exploration well 30/11-7, located approximately 10km northeast of the Frigg field in the North Sea.

The well discovered gas and condensate in Middle Jurassic reservoir sandstones in the Lower Brent group and extensive data collection and core sampling has been performed. The well has proven recoverable volumes in the range of 6-19 million barrels of oil equivalent. Given this success, a delineation well is being planned to prove additional hydrocarbons in the Upper Brent group. A successful formation test (mini-DST) was completed and this demonstrated good reservoir properties and production characteristics.

This well was drilled to a vertical depth of 4067m TVD, with TD in the Drake Formation of the Lower Jurassic. The water depth at this location is 111 metres and the well, which was drilled by the West Alpha rig as a cost sharing endeavour between production licences 035 and 362, will now be temporarily plugged and abandoned.

The licencees in PL362/035B are: StatoilHydro - operator (50%), Svenska Petroleum Exploration (25%), Det norske oljeselskap (15%) and Dana Petroleum Norway (10%).
