Cooper Energy Spuds Callawonga-6 Appraisal/Development Well
Monday, December 29, 2008
Following the successful Callawonga-5 well, Cooper Energy announces that the Callawonga-6 appraisal/development well spud on Saturday 27 December 2008.
Callawonga-6 is being drilled on the south-west flank of the Callawonga Oil Field in the Cooper Basin, South Australia.
The Callawonga-6 well will be drilled to approximately 1,400 metres, targeting the highly productive McKinlay and Namur sandstones, which are the oil bearing reservoirs in the Callawonga Oil Field.
The main uncertainties at the Callawonga-6 location are the depth of the top reservoir and the thickness of the oil column. The thickness of the oil column is influenced by the depth to top reservoir and the depth of the current oil water contact, which may potentially be shallower than the original oil water contact due to production from other wells in the field.
Cooper Energy has a 25% interest in the Callawonga Oil Field and the PEL92 area.
