Baker Hughes Announces January 2010 Rig Counts

Baker Hughes Incorporated reports that the international rig count for January 2010 was 1,047, up 23 from the 1,024 counted in December 2009, and up 3 from the 1,044 counted in January 2009. The international offshore rig count for January 2010 was 288, up 7 from the 281 counted in December 2009 and up 9 from the 279 counted in January 2009.

The US rig count for January 2010 was 1,267, up 95 from the 1,172 counted in December 2009 and down 286 from the 1,553 counted in January 2009. The Canadian rig count for January 2010 was 459, up 146 from the 313 counted in December 2009 and up 82 from the 377 counted in January 2009.

The worldwide rig count for January 2010 was 2,773, up 264 from the 2,509 counted in December 2009 and down 201 from the 2,974 counted in January 2009.
