Arrow Energy Appoints New Country Manager for China

Arrow Energy Limited announces the appointment of Shi Zhen Chun to the position of Country Manager for China.

Mr Shi is a Chinese national and joins Arrow after more than twelve successful years at BP (China) Holdings Limited where he excelled in Joint Venture developments and rose to the position of Vice President of their China Coal Business Unit. He also held Managerial positions at BP's Texas City plant in the US and, prior to joining BP, held several managerial roles at oil and petrochemical related companies both in China and Japan.

Mr Shi has a strong knowledge of new business development and an excellent track record in lobbying and negotiating with Chinese partners and government authorities at various levels. Mr Shi holds a Bachelor of Chemical and Refining Engineering from the Zhenzhou Industry University and an MBA from the Olin Business School of Washington University in St Louis. Mr Shi will take over the role from Dr Dave Matthew and report directly to Mr Nick Davies (CEO and Managing Director).

Dr Mathew will be working closely with Mr Shi over the next month or so ensuring a smooth handover but will soon move on to a new role of VP New Exploration and Technology Transfer for Arrow International. In this role Dr Mathew will commence preliminary technical screening studies for new areas beyond our current countries. In addition to this he will be more actively involved in developing a robust system and process for efficient technology transfer to/from Australia/International and this will include building up the level of technical competencies in International, managing and coordinating training programs and inter-country field-based secondments.

Commenting on the changes Mr Davies said, "we are delighted to secure someone of Mr Shi immense talent for our Chinese operations and are confident that his significant experience and intimate knowledge of the local industry and its dynamics will be of immense benefit to Arrow. In addition we are pleased to have someone of the calibre of Dr Mathew to take the lead in new areas of exploration and to continue growing the International business".
